Charities We Support

ASEC

ASEC is an organization founded and supported by action sports athletes, industry leaders, participants, and natural products companies. With consciousness changing as quickly as our climate, people like Bob Burnquist, Jen O’Brien, Danny Way, Geoff Rowley, Rob Machado, Cara Beth Burnside and hundreds of others, as well as industry leaders like Quiksilver, Planet Earth, Element, Etnies, and many more have asked themselves the question: “How can we utilize our collective power to do our part to improve life quality and evolve the industrial consciousness of our planet?” ASEC is the action sports industry’s response to that question!

EMA Online

EMA mobilizes the entertainment industry in educating people about environmental issues, which in turn, inspires them to take action. A pioneer in linking the power of celebrity to environmental awareness, it was EMA who invented the ‘green carpet,’ launching the concept of taking a hybrid or alternative fuel vehicle - not a limo - to high profile awards events and bringing the concept of alternative automotive technology to millions of previously unaware households.

Palm Oil and the Destruction of Orangutans, by Amanda Blue Zheutlin

It seems like the more I read about going green, the more examples I'm given of how interconnected the world is. The long line of contributors and affected parties to every product I pick up off a shelf seems extensive and not intuitive. Like, how the shine on the apple I bought be a product of the farmers in Nebraska who planted and harvested corn that eventually went into making the...

Hailing from Asheville, NC, Toubab Krewe creates a dynamic combination of African dance grooves and traditional American instrumental rock that’s good for both soul and body. Their presence was felt multi-fold at Rothbury Festival this year. Kicking off the festival at 6:45 Thursday night, they played their hearts out on the Ranch Arena stage, winning over those early arrivers who had yet to...

So here is another long trail of production which has many places for unfortunate eco-acts to occurs: from the cacao plant to the chocolate bar in the store. "Most chocolate sold in the U.S. comes from cocoa farms where farmers work in unsafe conditions, receive below poverty wages, many of them children under 14 years old who are forced to work and denied education," said editor Tex Dworkin...

Teva-Sticking to its Roots, by Emily Hillgren

Teva pronounced “teh-vah,” not “tee-vah” sticks to its roots, as a friend to the water.
I interviewed Jamie, from the famous outdoor performance shoe company to find out what Teva is all about.

The word Teva is a Hebrew word that means nature. The company got their start in 1984, after a Colorado River guide noticed the lack of tolerable shoes for his job. “A lot of the river...
